I will be starting on a new project where a repository with all the visible spectra, RAMAN, UV-VIS etc spectra will be organised, together with inclusion pictures etc. I hope it will be useful. Of course it can't be one person's work with the data entry. I'd die from exhaustion! |

I was informed about the RRUFF project during my ISG RG 2009 recertification. They have done a very very good job (though their focus is on Raman)! Please go to: http://rruff.info/ to take a look. |

I am planning to do something much greater than that, with online gem identification really! More like a combination of mindat, RRUFF, gemInterest together. That's a lot of coding to do, a lot of data to vet etc... In fact I have a pre-alpha prototype done up, but not quite so ready for release yet! It's still rather ugly it is embarassing. That would be very GREAT! Everything in one source would make Gemstone Identification and Research as easy as ABCs. I think "ugly" is not a matter of concern. What counts is your valuable thoughts and works! Looking forward to try on the early prototype soon.  |

A decent early alpha prototype should be ready by late July... There will be space for inclusion study, discussion etc. An entirely new framework for this website really. |
